10 of the state’s top Big Bands performed in the Frank Coughlan Premier Big Band Event, held at AIM on May 27 and 28, with jazz legend, Denis DiBlasio, as guest soloist and clinician.
Denis performed with each of the bands and then joined them on stage for a short workshop at the conclusion of their performance.
Each day was preceded with an Open Workshop where Denis and our Artistic Director, John Morrison, discussed a wide range of aspects involved in developing a successful Big Band Program. This was an incredibly valuable Professional Development and we would love to see more MDs participating next year when we hope to bring Denis back to do it again.
