Rod Mason has over 30 years experience as a professional musician, music director, conductor, adjudicator and woodwind tutor. He is known for his inspirational and collaborative music direction and specialist band education techniques embracing teamwork, fostering pride and creativity.

He enjoys helping young musicians develop a love for music, empowering them with confidence they take with them throughout their lives.

Rod has achieved some of Australia’s leading awards for his contribution to the music community. These include an OAM and a Gold Aria headlining the impressive list of commendations and awards.  

He directed and produced the big band Camouflage album Exposed – nominated ‘Best Contemporary Jazz Album 2003’ – Bell Awards  

He studied under scholarship at the Canberra School of Music with the internationally acclaimed saxophonist and music lecturer Dr Peter Clinch and had the pleasure of working alongside some of Australia’s leading musicians.

The diversity of Rod’s performance and MD experience encompasses genres including big band, jazz combo, rock, symphonic band, theatre, military, Latin, blues, ska, French contemporary and baroque.

His experiences span from zany live on stage performances on the legendary iconic show Count Down!  to internationally televised performances to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and President Bill Clinton.
